Investigators in Angola seized more than 2,000 cryptocurrency mining devices and six power transformation stations during Operation Serengeti III, a 21-country cybercrime operation that led to 1,462 arrests overall.

The Angola investigation also resulted in the dismantling of two illegal mining centers and nine arrests. The United States was among the participating countries.

Across the operation, authorities recovered more than $105 million in illicit funds. Investigators linked criminal activity to losses exceeding $385 million. INTERPOL announced the results Thursday, Oct. 22.

In a separate Nigerian investment-fraud investigation, more than $2.4 million in suspected criminal proceeds had been moved. Much of the money was laundered through cryptocurrency transactions.

The operation ran from June 29 to Aug. 31, 2026. Some investigations remain open.
