Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang Calls for U.S. to Attract Global Tech Talent

Huang did not name a specific visa. A Sept. 30 preliminary injunction put the administration’s H-1B payment policies on hold pending rulemaking.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said the United States should attract skilled people from around the world, arguing their ideas help sustain innovation in the country’s technology sector.

In a podcast episode published Oct. 15, Huang said he wanted global talent to bring ideas to the United States and realize them there. “We want all of the world's great minds to come here, bring their great ideas, make them realize them here,” he said. He added: “We have to do it lawfully. You have to do it rightfully, right? But we surely want to do it.”

Huang connected immigration with innovation but spoke about the issue broadly and did not identify a particular visa category.

The remarks came amid federal action on H-1B petitions. In a Sept. 18, 2026, executive order, President Donald Trump directed agencies to consider whether H-1B sponsors had laid off similarly situated U.S. workers during the previous year or planned future layoffs.

A separate proclamation issued Sept. 18 renewed a $100,000 payment requirement for certain H-1B petitions involving people outside the United States who must seek admission. The proclamation set the extension to run until 12 a.m. EDT Sept. 21, 2027 (04:00 UTC).

On Sept. 30, a federal judge issued a preliminary injunction vacating agency policies implementing the 2025 proclamation and its 2026 extension. The order bars agencies from enforcing or implementing those payment policies until required rulemaking is completed. The injunction concerns the payment policies; the directive on employer layoff reviews is a separate action.
