Argentine Judge Ends Criminal Probe Into Milei and Sister Over LIBRA
Federal Judge Marcelo Martínez de Giorgi acted after prosecutor Eduardo Taiano sought to close the case.

An Argentine federal judge ordered the criminal investigation into President Javier Milei and his sister, Karina Milei, over the LIBRA token affair dismissed, closing a probe opened in February 2025.
Federal Judge Marcelo Martínez de Giorgi issued the order after prosecutor Eduardo Taiano had asked to close the case. The investigation examined possible fraud tied to LIBRA's issuance and the siblings' roles in the episode. The order applies to the criminal inquiry into Milei and Karina Milei's involvement in the memecoin affair.
Milei had promoted LIBRA in a post on X. The token's price plunged afterward, and Milei deleted the post and denied having a connection to the asset. The probe began in February 2025, as the token's issuance and the Mileis' roles came under criminal investigation.
The dismissal is a major legal turn in the scandal: the judge has ordered an end to the investigation of the president and his sister, following the prosecutor's request.
