Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s consideration of cryptocurrency as a way to avoid potential foreign economic sanctions drew a national-security warning from his election rival and a party leader, Gadi Eisenkot, in a social media post on Oct. 25.

Eisenkot said Netanyahu’s cryptocurrency vision threatened Israel’s national security. Netanyahu has previously said he was considering cryptocurrency to get around economic sanctions other countries might impose on Israel.

In a separate criticism, Eisenkot warned that Netanyahu would lead Israel toward international isolation and economic sanctions, saying his leadership would damage the country’s economy and markets.
