Jess Asato’s xAI Suit Challenges Grok Over Alleged Sexualized Images
The Labour MP seeks damages and an order requiring xAI to change its systems. Her claim alleges Grok was linked to sexualized images and a video.

Labour MP Jess Asato said she had received more than 12,000 messages of support after suing xAI in England over alleged sexualized images made with its Grok chatbot.
Asato filed the claim in England’s High Court on June 3. It alleges that sexualized images and a video depicting her in a sexual-assault scenario were made with Grok without her consent. The claim invokes data-protection law and misuse of private information, and seeks damages, a declaration and an order requiring xAI to bring its systems into compliance.
Asato’s particulars of claim allege Grok was instructed to “assume good intent” and was not restricted from producing some adult sexual or offensive material. “xAI must be held accountable,” Asato said when filing the claim.
A separate sample-based analysis estimated that 3,002,712 photorealistic sexualized images appeared in Grok posts on X over 11 days, from Dec. 29, 2025, through Jan. 8, 2026. It did not examine the prompts or determine whether the people depicted consented, so the estimate does not establish how many images were nonconsensual or prove the allegations in Asato’s case.
The case applies existing privacy and data-protection claims to alleged choices in an AI system’s design. If the court reaches those issues, its decision could help clarify how such claims apply to an AI developer’s product as well as users’ conduct.
