CFTC Chairman Michael Selig to Discuss Crypto at Link:NYC Event
The CFTC is weighing rules for some retail crypto transactions and a possible market category for designated contract markets.

CFTC Chairman Michael Selig is scheduled to discuss digital assets and onchain finance at a Link:NYC event as the agency works on U.S. crypto-market rules.
On Oct. 5, the CFTC invited comments on potential rules covering certain retail commodity transactions involving crypto assets. The notice is part of the CFTC’s retail crypto rulemaking. The agency is also weighing a dedicated crypto-market classification for designated contract markets.
Selig has directed staff to explore a crypto-market framework under existing agency authority.
