U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) estimated the Iran war had cost at least $47.1 billion through mid-October in an estimate dated Oct. 16, with ammunition replacement accounting for about $29 billion.

The estimate did not include damage to U.S. military facilities from Iranian attacks. The Department of Defense Inspector General separately estimated damage at U.S. sites in Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates at about $184 million through June 29.

President Donald Trump said at a campaign rally in Lubbock, Texas, on Oct. 27 that he would decide when the war ends. He said the conflict could end quickly but required a proper conclusion and a declaration that Iran would never have nuclear weapons.

The U.S. midterm elections are Tuesday, Nov. 3.
