France’s National Assembly approved an amendment to the country’s 2027 budget on Oct. 16 that would tax gains from conversions into certain fiat-pegged stablecoins, advancing a proposal that has not become law.

The measure proposes a Jan. 1, 2027, start date. It is part of France’s broader budget debate on crypto taxation.

The Finance Committee previously advanced stablecoin tax and crypto exit-tax proposals during the 2027 budget process, a stage covered in France’s earlier committee-stage coverage.
