UnitedHealthcare Lists Amvuttra as Nonpreferred in Medicare Policy
The policy took effect Oct. 1 for certain Medicare Advantage drug plans. Amvuttra revenue rose 65% year over year to $1.13 billion in the third quarter.

UnitedHealthcare's Medicare Advantage policy makes Amvuttra nonpreferred for certain cardiomyopathy patients, requiring members in covered plans to meet step-therapy criteria before they can receive the drug. It took effect Oct. 1, 2026, for non-employer group Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug plans.
For ATTR-mediated cardiomyopathy, the policy lists Attruby and Vyndamax as preferred and Amvuttra as nonpreferred. It allows Amvuttra coverage after a patient's condition progresses or a related hospitalization occurs while the patient is taking a preferred drug. Coverage is also allowed for intolerance or an adverse event, or continuation of prior treatment within 365 days.
Amvuttra generated $1.13 billion in net product revenue for the quarter ended Sept. 30, up 65% from $685.3 million in the year-earlier quarter. Alnylam maintained its 2026 TTR net product revenue guidance at $4.2 billion to $4.5 billion in its third-quarter results.
