Decision Desk HQ projected Wednesday that Democrats would take control of the U.S. House, limiting President Donald Trump's legislative agenda after four years in the minority.

Republicans held a 220-215 House majority before Tuesday's midterm election, leaving Democrats needing a net gain of three seats to flip control. The projection points to divided government, with Democrats controlling one chamber of Congress while Republicans retain the White House.

The shift could complicate Trump's legislative priorities on immigration enforcement, federal spending, global tariffs and the Iran war. Democrats have pledged investigations into Epstein-related matters, violence during the administration's mass deportation campaign, and Trump and his family's finances.

The projection covers the House only and does not establish which party will control the Senate. If it holds, Democrats would have a platform to challenge the White House's agenda and pursue the investigations they have promised. The balance is expected to shape Washington's legislative operations next year.
