Democrats had won 50 Senate seats to Republicans’ 37, a net gain of five, and were projected to retake the House, which would give them control of both chambers of Congress. The result would give Democrats greater influence over congressional oversight and the legislative agenda, areas with direct consequences for crypto policy.

The Senate flips listed in the tally were in Ohio, North Carolina, South Carolina and Texas. Democratic candidate Adam Hamilton was projected to defeat Republican Sen. Roger Marshall in Kansas, which would mark a fifth flipped state.

House results had been determined for 234 seats. Democrats won 141, including nine flips, and Republicans won 93. Democrats were projected to retake the chamber after four years in the minority.

If the projection holds, the shift would usher in another period of divided government. For digital-asset companies, the change could reshape congressional oversight and the path for crypto legislation.
