Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse urged the incoming Congress to pursue federal digital-asset rules after Democrats won control of the House and Senate. The new Congress is set to convene in January.

“Pro-crypto members won on both sides of the aisle,” Garlinghouse wrote on X Wednesday. He said 67 million and growing Americans use crypto and called for the new Congress to continue work on “clear rules, built in America.”

The measure remains stalled in the Senate. The measure failed to advance in September after Democratic opposition. Sen. Cynthia Lummis, a key sponsor, had warned that the current Congress was the last realistic window for comprehensive digital-asset legislation and that failing to act could push legislation to 2030.

Ripple Chief Legal Officer Stuart Alderoty also rejected the idea that the election was a setback for crypto. He pointed to pro-crypto candidates elected in both parties, Fairshake PAC wins in primaries and the general election, and early data that he said showed a substantial number of pro-crypto members elected.

Garlinghouse has previously said XRP had legal clarity under a federal court ruling, even as broader U.S. crypto rules remained unresolved.
