Three Republican House committee chairs asked Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang to appear for a closed-door briefing on his interactions with Megaspeed executive Alice Huang and the company’s safeguards against foreign espionage.

The chairs proposed Nov. 18 for the joint briefing and asked Huang to confirm the date or suggest another by Wednesday, Nov. 11. The request came from House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Brian Mast (R-Fla.), House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party Chairman John Moolenaar (R-Mich.) and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rick Crawford (R-Ark.).

In a Thursday, Nov. 5 announcement, the chairs described Alice Huang as a publicly reported Chinese intelligence asset. Neither Alice Huang nor Megaspeed has been charged with a crime. Nvidia has characterized Jensen Huang’s interactions with Alice Huang as routine customer business and said customer meetings are part of the CEO’s job.

The request follows a U.S. intelligence briefing on the contacts that President Donald Trump received about a year ago. Trump took no action at the time. The proposed briefing would come one day after Nvidia’s Nov. 17 earnings report.
