Iran is reviewing a Qatari proposal on its nuclear activities, a possible shift in stalled U.S.-Iran negotiations that could influence the geopolitical backdrop for oil and broader risk sentiment watched by crypto traders.

A diplomat familiar with the discussions said Tehran is willing to address nuclear questions it had previously refused to discuss. The diplomat described the U.S. and Iran as edging toward a possible breakthrough to end the war. Iran's willingness to consider a nuclear-related proposal from Qatar could help move negotiations forward, the diplomat said.

Qatar, a principal mediator, put forward the proposal covering Iran's nuclear activities. Talks have been stalled since an interim peace agreement reached in June broke down.

President Trump has also spoken with Qatar's leader about efforts to ease regional tensions. The contact came as President Trump sought an end to the conflict, which was an important backdrop to this week's U.S. midterm elections.
