Voters backed tighter data center development rules in 40 of 41 related ballot measures Nov. 3, while newly elected Democratic governors and members of Congress are likely to support additional regulation.

Majorities favored more restrictions on development in 40 of the 41 measures, with one measure the exception.

Data centers were also a major talking point in races where voters did not decide on them directly. The expected support for additional regulation extends the issue beyond the ballot measures themselves.
