The People’s Bank of China (PBOC), the country’s central bank, is investigating a Solana marketing campaign tied to advertisements in Shanghai’s Lujiazui financial district, putting domestic crypto promotion under regulatory scrutiny.

The campaign was carried out through local entities. Chinese authorities say the promotional activity violated a February 2026 notice intended to curb cryptocurrency-related risks. The inquiry also involves local financial regulators, police and market supervision authorities.

Planned Solana Accelerate China 2026 events in Shanghai and other cities have been halted amid the probe. The event stoppage extends the response beyond the advertisements found in Lujiazui and affects scheduled Solana programming across multiple cities.

The case puts domestic crypto marketing at the center of China’s enforcement of restrictions intended to curb cryptocurrency-related risks. The February 2026 notice is the stated regulatory basis for the scrutiny.
