FinCEN Order Restricts MEXC Global's U.S. Financial Access
The order is part of Operation Economic Outcast, a U.S. enforcement push targeting businesses that enable the Iranian regime.

The U.S. Treasury Department's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) issued an order that effectively cuts MEXC Global off from U.S. financial transactions, placing the global crypto exchange in a sanctions enforcement push focused on Iran.
The action is part of Operation Economic Outcast, which targets businesses enabling the Iranian regime. Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) designated eight money services businesses for sanctions violations in the same effort.
Treasury's enforcement action alleges that MEXC facilitated at least $16 billion in illicit transactions, particularly activity tied to evading Iran sanctions. MEXC operates a global cryptocurrency exchange, offering trading services to users worldwide.
The U.S. financial restriction could constrain MEXC's operations and trading volumes, while the campaign may bring closer regulatory scrutiny to other exchanges. FinCEN's order addresses MEXC's access to U.S. financial transactions, while OFAC's designations cover eight money services businesses.
