Ethereum (ETH) is preparing for major performance enhancements through key proposals and an upcoming hard fork. According to crypto researcher “Fede’s Intern,” Ethereum could reduce transaction latency by 50% through EIP-7782, titled Reduce Block Latency. This proposed Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP) aims to reorganize bandwidth usage without changing block or blob sizes. Benefits include faster Layer 1 and Layer 2 interactions, reduced MEV (Miner Extractable Value), tighter decentralized exchange (DEX) pricing, and improved finality—all contributing to a smoother user experience.

Authored by Ethereum developers Ben Adams and Dankrad Feist, EIP-7782 is currently in the “Draft” phase of the Standard Track. The goal is to enhance Ethereum's responsiveness without compromising scalability or decentralization.

In addition, EIP-7928, or Block-Level Access (BLA) Lists, introduced in March 2025, could help parallelize transaction validation and disk reads, optimizing Ethereum node operations. However, Fede’s Intern notes that EIP-7732, which proposes Enshrined Proposer-Builder Separation to decouple execution and consensus validation, may introduce excessive complexity and could be deferred for future consideration.

These proposals are likely to be part of Ethereum’s anticipated 2026 hard fork, dubbed Glamsterdam. This upgrade follows the expected Q4 2025 Fulu-Osaka (Fusaka) update and builds on the progress from the Prague-Electra (Pectra) fork. Glamsterdam aims to introduce new opcodes and revise gas models to boost Ethereum’s efficiency and scalability.

As Ethereum evolves, proposals like EIP-7782 signal a strong focus on user experience, latency reduction, and infrastructure optimization—making it a critical step forward in the blockchain’s long-term roadmap.
