Switchboard Will End Oracle Support on Sept. 25, Forcing Migrations
The protocol has stopped maintaining its implementations and is directing users to alternative data providers including Pyth and RedStone.
Switchboard will end its remaining oracle support on Sept. 25, requiring protocols that rely on its data feeds to migrate to alternative providers before the deadline.
Switchboard Technology Labs, the protocol’s core development contributor, is winding down its remaining operations. All Switchboard implementations have stopped receiving maintenance, while support for the remaining services will end Friday.
Protocols using Switchboard are being directed to move to alternatives including Pyth and RedStone. The shutdown places the migration burden on projects that use Switchboard’s oracle infrastructure to bring external data onto blockchain networks.
Switchboard identified several forces behind the decision. Artificial intelligence has reduced the cost of building oracle systems internally, while the crypto bear market has reduced the number of new blockchains and lowered project budgets.
The protocol also pointed to a shift toward direct relationships between applications and data providers, citing models involving Hyperliquid and S&P. That approach may reduce the role of third-party oracle networks in delivering data to blockchain-based applications.
Remaining Switchboard support ends Sept. 25.
