Polygon Permanently Burns 100 Million POL Tokens, Cutting Supply 1%

Polygon permanently burned 100 million POL tokens, removing about 1% of the token’s total supply in a completed reduction announced Sept. 24.
Polygon Foundation CEO Sandeep Nailwal said the tokens had been permanently destroyed. The action reduces POL’s total supply and completes a burn process prepared for community execution.
The burn contract was made available for any community member to trigger. Nailwal had also said the community could consider conducting POL burns once every quarter, though no schedule for future burns was provided.
The completed action affects POL’s supply directly but does not establish a timetable for additional burns.
