Ether Trades Lower as Glamsterdam Sepolia Fork Nears Oct. 6
Ether’s Sept. 24 trading range ran from $2,628.57 to $2,703.57. Ethereum’s mainnet target is the fourth quarter of 2026, with no confirmed date.

Ether (ETH) traded lower Sept. 24 as an unsettled market backdrop coincided with Ethereum’s approaching Glamsterdam testnet milestone, scheduled for Oct. 6 on Sepolia.
ETH opened the day at $2,684.80, reached $2,703.57 and fell as low as $2,628.57 before closing at $2,641.26 in the available daily exchange data. The figures were updated at 10:18 a.m. ET (14:18 UTC).
Market conditions remained unsettled across energy and interest-rate measures. West Texas Intermediate crude stood at $96.41 per barrel and Brent crude at $114.89 on Sept. 22. The 52-week bill coupon-equivalent yield was 4.44% on Sept. 23.
The Oct. 6 event is a scheduled Sepolia fork, making it a testnet deployment rather than Ethereum’s mainnet upgrade. The network’s roadmap places Glamsterdam’s mainnet target in the fourth quarter of 2026 but does not provide a confirmed launch date.
Glamsterdam combines the planned Amsterdam execution-layer changes with the Gloas consensus-layer work. Its design calls for higher transaction-processing capacity, greater Layer 1 throughput and limits on database growth while keeping hardware requirements manageable.
Planned components include enshrined proposer-builder separation, parallel processing and changes to gas costs. Proposer-builder separation refers to dividing block-building and block-proposing responsibilities within the network.
Platåberget served as an early public testing ground before the upgrade moves through the longer-lived Sepolia and Hoodi testnets. The Sepolia schedule marks a network-development milestone, while the broader market backdrop remains unsettled.
Price readings for Sept. 24 vary by timestamp and exchange. That makes a single intraday percentage decline difficult to establish without using a common venue and time.
The next defined step is the scheduled Sepolia fork on Oct. 6. That testnet event will not, by itself, establish when Glamsterdam reaches Ethereum’s mainnet.
