Optimism Ecosystem Secures About $17 Billion Across OP Stack Chains
The figure covers total value secured across Ethereum Layer 2 networks, not OP Mainnet’s standalone DeFi TVL.

The OP Stack ecosystem secured approximately $17 billion as of Aug. 31, 2026, extending the scale of Optimism’s Ethereum Layer 2 infrastructure beyond the value held on OP Mainnet alone.
The figure measures total value secured across OP Stack networks. It is different from decentralized-finance total value locked, or DeFi TVL, which tracks assets deposited in decentralized-finance protocols and applications.
More than 50 production chains use the OP Stack, including Unichain, Ink, World Chain and Soneium. The broader group of networks built with the framework is known as the Superchain, while OP Mainnet is one network within that ecosystem.
Total value secured includes assets protected by bridges and other assets held on rollups. That broader measurement means it should not be treated as a standalone reading of OP Mainnet’s DeFi activity.
The ecosystem processed about 6.8 billion transactions between January and August 2026. The total value secured had exceeded $16 billion through June, before reaching the approximately $17 billion figure recorded at the end of August.
Historical comparisons require care because Base moved off the OP Stack in February 2026. The change affects the composition of the Superchain over time, so figures from different periods may not cover the same group of networks.
The latest figure provides a broader view of the infrastructure secured by OP Stack networks than a single-chain TVL measure, while the chain composition remains a key factor in comparing future totals.
