Cardano RealFi Sets Oct. 1 Mainnet Target as Hoskinson Urges Adoption
The reserve-backed dollar project is still working through regulatory, operational and commercial requirements before launch.

Cardano RealFi is targeting an Oct. 1 mainnet launch as the reserve-backed dollar project advances toward deployment and Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson urges the crypto industry to focus on adoption.
The launch remains conditional on regulatory, operational and commercial requirements. RealFi is built around a reserve-backed dollar instrument with separate unstaked and staked versions.
The unstaked version is expected to hold liquid assets, including tokenized money-market funds and liquid AAA-collateralized loan obligation exchange-traded funds. The staked version may include private credit and is expected to have a seven-day cooldown period.
In August, RealFi disclosed that its investment team had begun acquiring reserve assets and that its stablecoin mint had reached the seven-figure range. The project previously moved about $100,000 through venues and wallets during what John O’Connor described as its “hardening phase.”
Cardano held about $68 million in stablecoins as of Sept. 6. Native stablecoins accounted for roughly $22 million, while bridged assets represented about $43 million.
Hoskinson discussed RealFi’s development in a recording made Sept. 15 while addressing the stalled U.S. crypto market-structure bill. He urged the industry to stop waiting for broad legislation and concentrate on building products and bringing users into crypto.
“Move on. Close the chapter. Close the page. Get back to work. Get people to adopt crypto,” Hoskinson said.
He also identified Bitcoin (BTC), Cardano (ADA) and XRP as examples of crypto assets he considers commodities while discussing a possible division of digital-asset legislation into separate categories.
ADA came under selling pressure after the Senate rejected the Clarity Act on Monday, while broader crypto markets also declined. RealFi’s planned launch could provide another potential catalyst for ADA, although the project is still working through its reserve structure, operational requirements and stress-testing process.
Stablecoin issuance and adoption after launch could indicate whether RealFi is generating meaningful activity on Cardano. The next stated milestone is the targeted Oct. 1 mainnet release.
