Bitget has not ruled out North Korean hackers in an attack involving about $351.6 million, but the exchange has not confirmed the attackers’ identities, CEO Gracy Chen said.

Chen said an initial investigation found that some related IP addresses matched VPN services used by a North Korean hacking group. The attack pattern also showed similarities to the group’s previous operations, leaving North Korean involvement as one possibility under review.

Bitget does not currently believe the incident was carried out by an insider. The attackers breached the platform’s systems and moved funds without fabricating user withdrawal requests, Chen said.

The exchange also said the attackers did not obtain private keys for its cold or hot wallets. Investigators are still determining which systems were affected and how the attackers gained access.
