XRP Was Largest Asset in $351.6 Million Bitget Crypto Drain

Bitget detected unauthorized transfers Sept. 24 from parts of its hot- and warm-wallet infrastructure. Withdrawals were suspended while deposits and trading remained operational.

XRP accounted for approximately $157.48 million of crypto assets drained from Bitget after the exchange detected unauthorized transfers from parts of its hot- and warm-wallet infrastructure.

Bitget detected the transfers at 2:31 p.m. ET (18:31 UTC) Sept. 24. The affected XRP amounted to 102,926,478 tokens, making it the largest single asset listed in the incident.

Bitget estimated the total affected funds at approximately $351.6 million. A separate asset tally totaled approximately $356.86 million, reflecting a different valuation snapshot.

The listed assets also included 31,890 Ether (ETH), valued at approximately $85.75 million, as well as Tether (USDT), USD Coin (USDC), USDT0, Tether Gold (XAUt), BNB, Avalanche (AVAX) and TRON (TRX).

Bitget said its cold wallets were unaffected. Withdrawals were temporarily suspended, while deposits and trading remained operational. The exchange also said its User Protection Fund held more than $464 million, exceeding its stated estimate of affected funds.

Bitget has not confirmed the attack method or when withdrawals will resume.
