Polygon Plans Another 25 Million POL Burn as It Targets 1ms Confirmation
The community has already permanently removed 100 million POL, about 1% of total supply, with another 25 million accumulating.

Polygon plans to permanently burn another 25 million POL as it works toward one-millisecond on-chain confirmation times, adding to a token reduction initiative and a broader network upgrade.
Polygon co-founder Sandeep said the community has already accumulated and burned 100 million POL through on-chain revenue, equal to about 1% of the token’s total supply. Another 25 million POL is still accumulating for a future burn.
The network is also progressing toward faster confirmations through recent upgrades. Polygon is expected to eventually use block flow to reach confirmation times of 1 millisecond, while an upcoming OMS upgrade is expected to add roughly 1 million transactions of daily processing capacity.
Polymarket has launched perpetual contracts on Polygon, adding a derivatives use case to the network as the protocol pursues higher throughput and faster settlement.
