Zano Restarts Blockchain, Erasing a Month of Transaction History
The emergency restart removed unauthorized ZANO and fUSD issuance linked to a Gateway Address vulnerability while preserving wallet keys and ordinary transaction privacy.

Zano (ZANO) restarted its blockchain from block height 3,833,000, wiping roughly one month of transaction history to remove unauthorized ZANO and fUSD issuance linked to a Gateway Address vulnerability.
Transactions confirmed during the affected period are not included in the recovered chain. The restart occurred immediately before Hard Fork 6, which activated at block 3,833,000 on Aug. 26.
The issue did not compromise wallet spend keys or ordinary transaction privacy. The vulnerability instead affected asset issuance through Gateway Addresses, an account-based address type introduced to support exchanges, bridges, decentralized exchanges and payment services.
The recovery went beyond the roughly 24-hour rollback initially planned by the network. Affected projects and counterparties are being engaged, and a reimbursement and claims process is planned.
fUSD is a stablecoin protocol built on the Zano network. Zano has not disclosed the amount of unauthorized ZANO or fUSD issued, the technical root cause or final compensation terms.
