Bitget Resumes Bitcoin Withdrawals After $388 Million Hack
Ether withdrawals are scheduled to resume Tuesday, followed by USDt withdrawals Wednesday as the exchange restores services after the Sept. 24 breach.

Bitget resumed Bitcoin (BTC) withdrawals Monday after a Sept. 24 security breach affecting nearly $388 million in assets, as Ether linked to the attack moved through THORChain.
Withdrawals reopened first for BTC on the Bitcoin network and BNB Smart Chain. Bitget revised the estimated value of affected assets to $387.5 million from $351.6 million after accounting for additional transfers involving Zcash and Tron.
Ether (ETH) withdrawals are scheduled to resume Tuesday across Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Arbitrum, Base and Optimism. Tether’s USDt (USDT) withdrawals are scheduled to return Wednesday across Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Solana and Tron.
Withdrawals for other assets and peer-to-peer services are scheduled to resume Friday. The timetable applies to all users, with no priority access for institutional customers, VIP users or employees.
The breach affected part of Bitget’s hot and warm wallet infrastructure, while its cold wallets remained secure. Bitget CEO Gracy Chen said the exchange restored BTC first because its withdrawal process was completed before those for other assets.
The attacker has continued swapping stolen Ether for Bitcoin through THORChain, a protocol that exchanges assets across blockchains. THORChain said its emergency network halt affects the protocol broadly and cannot selectively freeze specific funds or an individual swap.
