Potential sources include automation equipment and robotics, along with AI applications in drug development, mental health and energy production.
Reaching the target would require an innovation wave significantly larger than those that drove the mobile internet and cloud-computing eras.
The required expansion would extend well beyond current AI software and services.
At the same time, AI infrastructure construction is clearly outpacing the growth of demand. Maintaining sustainable financing for the buildout would require global annual GDP growth to increase by about 1 percentage point.
