OpenAI Launches ChatGPT Space For Collaborative Team Documents
The workspace replaces ChatGPT’s Library and lets Pro, Business and Enterprise users collaborate with ChatGPT, Codex and AI agents called “dots.”
OpenAI launched ChatGPT Space on Sept. 29, giving teams a shared workspace for creating and editing documents with ChatGPT, Codex and AI agents called “dots.” The feature extends ChatGPT beyond individual conversations into persistent pages and shared team work.
Space replaces ChatGPT’s former Library with a central home for pages, files, presentations and spreadsheets. Pages can combine text, images, charts and interactive tools, while teammates with edit access can work on the same page in real time.
Users can tag ChatGPT, Codex or a dot to request edits, research, organization and follow-up tasks. Dots are always-on agents that can operate across ChatGPT, Slack and Microsoft Teams.
The workspace supports connected tools including Google Drive and Slack. Teams can also pull to-dos from Slack, email and calendars into a page, bringing task information into the shared workspace.
ChatGPT Space is available through the web and desktop apps for Pro, Business and Enterprise customers. Mobile users can read and share pages, while mobile creation and editing are unavailable.
Collaborative slides are planned for the coming weeks, with simultaneous editing, comments and exports to PowerPoint or Google Slides. OpenAI described Space as “a new home for your team to collaborate with AI to get work done” and a place for “People and AI working together.”
The launch follows OpenAI’s introduction of group chats, which let people work with ChatGPT in the same conversation. Space adds persistent documents and shared team context to that model.
ChatGPT had 1.2 billion weekly users as of the Sept. 29 DevDay announcement, which included more than 20 major announcements. OpenAI’s broader workplace strategy also includes Dots, its AI agents for workplace teams.
