Shipyard to End IPFS Engineering and Infrastructure Operations Sept. 30
The shutdown will leave several core IPFS projects without dedicated maintainers as Protocol Labs determines the future of public infrastructure and bootstrap nodes.
Shipyard will stop its engineering, maintenance and infrastructure operations for the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) on Sept. 30, ending dedicated support for several projects and services.
The shutdown follows Protocol Labs’ decision not to renew Shipyard’s funding. After operations end, Kubo, Helia and IPFS Desktop will no longer have dedicated maintainers from Shipyard.
The status of public infrastructure, including ipfs.io, dweb.link and IPFS bootstrap nodes, will be determined by Protocol Labs. The change could affect users and services that depend on those tools and network resources.
Shipyard plans to help manage the transition through the end of September.
