Bitget Exploit Funds Move Into Zcash Pool After $50M Swap Attempts
Wallets linked to the Sept. 24 hack transferred about $3.9 million in ZEC into Ironwood after NEAR Intents rejected attempted swaps tied to the breach.

Wallets linked to the Sept. 24 Bitget exploit moved 2,746 Zcash (ZEC), worth about $3.9 million, into Zcash’s Ironwood shielded pool on Sept. 30, placing the funds behind a system that conceals later transaction details.
Three transfers entered the pool between 4:15 and 4:46 a.m. ET (08:15–08:46 UTC). The deposits represented about 15% of the roughly 18,917 ZEC received by a wallet linked to the attacker during the breach.
The move followed more than $50 million in attempted transfers tied to the hack being flagged by NEAR Intents’ SHIELD risk system. About $503,000 was frozen during execution, while approximately $166,000 passed through. The figures are rounded estimates and may vary by up to 10%.
Bitget revised its estimate of assets sent to attacker-controlled addresses to approximately $387.5 million, up from an initial $351.6 million. The exchange said user balances were unaffected and that its protection fund would cover the incident.
Ironwood, activated on the Zcash network on July 28, shields the sender, recipient and amount for transfers made inside the pool, making the funds harder to trace after deposit.
