MetaMask Responds to Infrastructure Security Incident; No Direct Wallet Threat Identified So Far

The company is working with external partners and security advisers while coordinating a precautionary exit from affected validators in its staking operation.

MetaMask is responding to a security incident involving part of its infrastructure, but the company has not identified a direct risk to its wallets so far.

The wallet provider is working with external partners and security advisers to address and repair the affected systems. It is also coordinating a precautionary exit from validators involved in its non-custodial staking operation.

In a non-custodial service, the provider does not control customers’ withdrawal keys. MetaMask said its staking operation does not hold those keys for staked assets, limiting the service’s direct control over withdrawals.

The company is continuing to monitor the incident and the systems involved. No direct threat to MetaMask wallets had been identified.
