MetaMask Staking Starts Withdrawing Ethereum Validators From Lido
The exits follow an infrastructure breach investigation, with completion expected by Oct. 7 and the broader process potentially lasting up to 45 days.

MetaMask Staking has begun withdrawing customer-linked Ethereum validators from Lido after an infrastructure breach investigation, with the exits expected to be completed by Oct. 7.
The withdrawal process covers Ethereum validators operated by MetaMask Staking, formerly known as Consensys Staking, through the Lido protocol. The exits are underway, but the full withdrawal has not been completed.
The move may result in the loss of some staking rewards. Validators taken offline during the process could also incur downtime penalties as the operator works to reduce potential network risks.
Lido said holders of its staked Ether (stETH) token do not need to take any action. Ether withdrawn from the affected validators is expected to return to the protocol gradually after the validators complete their exit, withdrawal and re-entry cycles.
A long Ethereum validator-entry queue could extend the overall process to roughly 45 days, even with the initial withdrawals targeted for completion by Oct. 7.
