MetaMask Exits Some Ethereum Validators After Security Incident
The precaution affects validators operated through MetaMask Staking, while the company says it has found no direct threat to its wallet product.

MetaMask has begun withdrawing some Ether (ETH) validators as a precaution after a security incident affected part of its infrastructure, while the company says its wallet product has not faced a direct threat.
The measure targets validators operated through MetaMask Staking, the company’s noncustodial staking business. MetaMask is investigating the incident with external partners and security advisers and has not disclosed further details.
MetaMask Staking began removing its validators from the Lido protocol Wednesday to protect assets tied to those operations. The final group is expected to complete the exit by Oct. 7.
After withdrawal, the ETH will move through the validator exit and withdrawal process before being added back to staking. A lengthy queue means the full cycle may take as long as 45 days.
