September Crypto Incidents Logged $767 Million to $768 Million in Losses

Separate security-industry tallies counted 55 major incidents and 97 total incidents during September, with Bitget and Liquid Network accounting for most losses.

September’s crypto security incidents produced between $767 million and $768 million in losses, making the month one of the most damaging periods of 2026 for digital-asset users and platforms.

Separate security-industry tallies counted 55 major incidents involving $767 million in stolen funds and 97 incidents with estimated losses of $768 million.

Bitget accounted for $388 million of the losses. The Liquid Network attack caused another $320 million in losses, with more than $270 million later returned.

Safe Wallet, DCENT and Duelbits reported losses of $7.8 million, $6 million and $5.9 million, respectively.

Security incidents have totaled 656 so far in 2026, while cumulative losses have reached an estimated $2.68 billion. The September figures add to the month’s broader record of crypto security losses.
