Ethereum Sets Sepolia Test for 200 Million Gas Preference
The Oct. 6 Glamsterdam fork will test the setting on Sepolia, but validators must opt in and the test does not change Ethereum’s mainnet gas limit.

Ethereum will test a 200 million gas proposer preference during the Glamsterdam upgrade’s Sepolia activation Oct. 6, but validators must configure the setting themselves, and the test does not change mainnet’s gas limit.
The fork is scheduled for 9:53:36 a.m. ET (13:53:36 UTC). Prysm 7.2.0 supports the Sepolia upgrade, while its Gloas proposer preference starts at 60 million gas. Validators seeking to propose blocks with a 200 million gas limit can change the preference in version 2 proposer settings or use the keymanager API.
Glamsterdam pairs the Amsterdam execution-layer upgrade with the Gloas consensus-layer upgrade. Its planned changes include proposer-builder separation and block-level access lists, which are intended to support greater throughput on Ethereum’s Layer 1 network.
The gas limit schedule is optional and adds no new rules for deciding whether blocks are valid. As a result, the scheduled test does not guarantee that Sepolia’s realized gas limit will reach 200 million.
Activation dates for Hoodi and Ethereum mainnet have not been set. The Sepolia fork is the next scheduled public testnet step in Glamsterdam’s rollout, following earlier coverage of the upgrade’s Sepolia schedule.
