Bull has doubled production capacity at its Angers factory in France, adding manufacturing capacity as Europe expands computing infrastructure for artificial intelligence and high-performance computing.

The increase comes as Bull takes on European computing projects. A June partnership with Foxconn covers production of AI and cloud infrastructure at Bull’s Angers site and Foxconn’s facilities in Pardubice, Czech Republic.

The European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking signed a contract with Bull on Aug. 31 to deliver the LUMI-AI supercomputer in Kajaani, Finland. The project budget is €387.8 million for acquisition, delivery, installation and maintenance. The system is expected to be available to users in 2027.

LUMI-AI will serve a consortium led by Finland that also includes Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Norway and Poland. It is the sixth supercomputer procured under the European initiative’s AI Factory program.
