Aave has processed more than $1.1 trillion in cumulative loan volume, a milestone its founder Stani Kulechov cited while urging more lending activity to move onchain.

Kulechov contrasted the protocol’s code-based coordination of borrowing and lending with traditional finance, which he described as relying on back-office teams, settlement departments, intermediaries and legal agreements.

Aave is a decentralized lending protocol. Its cumulative loan volume measures the total value of loans processed over time.
