Aptos has directed testnet validators to upgrade to a private node hotfix and recommended the update for fullnode operators, while the release notes leave the patch’s purpose unexplained.

The aptos-node-v1.49.2-hotfix-rc release was published Sept. 30 at 10:49 p.m. ET (2:49 a.m. UTC on Oct. 1). Aptos says the source code is unavailable and instructs operators to use the attached binaries or Docker image.

Aptos’ release process uses testnet to evaluate node versions before a stable release is considered for mainnet. Hotfixes may be issued during testing, with mainnet promotion following confirmation of stability.

The release notes give no upgrade deadline or details about the consequences of waiting. They also do not specify whether or when the hotfix will be released for mainnet.
