Zcash now has two independent full-node implementations, Zebra and Zakura, that execute the same rules, raising the question of whether a second implementation changes decentralization or computing power remains the only key factor.

Zebra is a Rust-based full-node implementation supported by the Zcash Foundation. Zakura is a separate full-node implementation. Both execute the same rules on the network.

The development follows Gemini’s move of its Zcash node infrastructure to Zakura.
