Cumulative deposits across Aave’s markets and versions total $2.73 trillion, while a separate governance proposal would create a foundation to hold protocol-related intellectual property.

Aave has $33.8 billion in deposits, $13.3 billion in outstanding loans and $82.1 million in revenue for 2026 to date. The cumulative figure measures liquidity supplied over time; it is distinct from the separate deposits figure.

Aave Labs published the foundation proposal on Oct. 2, 2026. It seeks to establish a memberless foundation in the Cayman Islands and appoint an initial independent director and supervisor.

The foundation would later take legal title to the Aave trademark, primary domains, transferred protocol code intellectual property and certain service-provider work. The proposal describes the entity as a way to hold these assets for the benefit of the Aave Protocol.

The plan remains subject to governance steps. Consensus on the forum proposal would be followed by a Snapshot vote and an on-chain AIP to authorize setup costs. Later phases and asset transfers would require additional proposals and votes.

The proposal requests reasonable setup costs and no recurring budget. Decisions on listings, parameters, budgets and service-provider engagements would remain with governance.
