Bitcoin Was 79,974 Blocks From Its Next Halving on Oct. 5
The subsidy is scheduled to fall from 3.125 BTC to 1.5625 BTC at block 1,050,000. The event is estimated for 2028.

Bitcoin (BTC) was 79,974 blocks from its next scheduled mining reward cut on Oct. 5, 2026, a change that will halve the subsidy miners receive for each block.
The network stood at block 970,026, with the reduction scheduled for block 1,050,000. The event is estimated for 2028, but its calendar timing can shift because block production varies.
Bitcoin’s halving interval is 210,000 blocks. At the network’s target pace of 144 blocks per day, the subsidy cut would reduce new issuance from 450 BTC to 225 BTC daily.
The current 3.125 BTC subsidy followed the 2024 halving at block 840,000, when the reward fell from 6.25 BTC. The next reduction is a scheduled change to Bitcoin’s issuance; it does not determine how the asset’s price will respond.
