Ripple plans to move customer payment volume onto the XRP Ledger (XRPL) in 2027 and expand a payments pilot that uses the ledger’s decentralized exchange. A proposal would connect Ripple’s payments business with lending being developed on XRPL, potentially using XRP in pools to fund payment customers.

At XRP Seoul 2026 on Oct. 3, Ripple President Monica Long discussed moving customer transaction volume onto the XRP Ledger. The lending arrangement is a proposal, not an established program. It could give XRP a role as capital for Ripple payment customers, beyond transfers between financial institutions.

A busy ledger and a more valuable token are not the same thing. The proposal does not establish how XRP’s price or demand would be affected.

XRP was trading at $1.49, down 1.7% over 24 hours, at the time of writing. It had spent two weeks between $1.47 and $1.55 since nearing $1.65 in late September.
