Google Cloud Bundles AI Tools and Migration Services in Modernize Portfolio
The launch includes a generally available cost estimator and an EKS-to-GKE migration agent in public preview, alongside new infrastructure options.

Google Cloud introduced Modernize, a portfolio of migration services, AI-assisted assessment tools and infrastructure options for enterprises evaluating systems and preparing for AI workloads.
The portfolio includes Modernization Hub, which analyzes code and maps dependencies in Java, .NET and mainframe applications. Its Agentic Quick Estimator is generally available and uses VMware inventory exports and infrastructure details to project costs for Google Compute Engine. An agent for moving workloads from Amazon EKS to Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) is in public preview.
The infrastructure additions include X5 Series virtual machines with up to 43 tebibytes of memory in a single node, up from a previous maximum of 29 tebibytes. The M4N Series is generally available with 26.57 gibibytes of RAM per virtual CPU. Google says the configuration can reduce software licensing costs by more than 20% for Oracle and other databases licensed by processor core.
Modernize packages those tools with existing services, including Migration Center, Google Cloud VMware Engine and Google Cloud Mainframe Modernization. An Aug. 24, 2026, Migration Center update added AI-assisted quick assessments for infrastructure evaluation and cost modeling.
Google said NetEase Games reduced server costs by 40% and cut infrastructure scaling time on Google Kubernetes Engine during peak launches from hours to five minutes. Google said Deutsche Börse Group reduced aggregation latency by more than 50% and shortened development cycles from months to days after moving systems to Google Cloud.
