The Cardano Foundation announced that CIP-0113, a programmable token standard for embedding compliance rules into digital assets, is live on the Cardano mainnet.

The standard is designed for issuers of stablecoins, tokenized funds and bonds. It supports know-your-customer (KYC) checks, anti-money-laundering controls, sanctions screening, asset freezes, confiscations and transfer restrictions.

The Cardano ledger executes the embedded rules during token transfers, minting and burning.

CIP-0113 does not require a hard fork, and tokens issued under the standard remain Cardano native assets. Issuers can also update rule modules as regulatory requirements change.
