Cardano marked its ninth anniversary with planned institutional custody support, automated payment integrations and enterprise projects that extend the network’s use across finance, supply chains, sports and education.

Fireblocks plans to add full support for Cardano Native Tokens by March 2027 through the CIP-26 token registry and CIP-68 on-chain metadata standards. The expansion would bring Cardano-based assets into Fireblocks’ custody, transfer and policy workflows. Fireblocks has supported Cardano’s native asset, ADA, since 2021.

The Cardano Foundation also joined Mastercard’s Crypto Partner Program, opening discussions around cross-border money movement, business-to-business transactions and settlement.

Cardano was added to the official x402 software development kit, allowing applications and artificial-intelligence agents to request payment for web services in ADA or Cardano Native Tokens. The standard uses HTTP’s “402 Payment Required” status to request payment before a service is delivered. The integration expands Cardano’s use for automated web-service payments.

Enterprise activity grew through Blockforce, whose Cardano-based public proof layer had anchored more than 500,000 supply-chain records as of Aug. 31, 2026. Joint engineering work reduced the cost per record by 92%, while about 6.5 million certification anchors are contracted through 2030 across the automotive, food and beverage, and cosmetics sectors.

Blockforce keeps sensitive supply-chain data on a permissioned Hyperledger Fabric network and anchors cryptographic proofs on Cardano. Its system can batch as many as 44 certificates into one Cardano transaction.

“We needed a public infrastructure layer that could handle enterprise transaction volume without enterprise transaction costs,” André Salem, founder and CEO of Blockforce, said.

FC Barcelona launched Barça Fan Lab with Andamio through Project Catalyst Fund 13. The platform allows fans to complete activities and receive verifiable digital credentials through a Cardano Web3 portfolio.

Cardano Academy content will be incorporated into UCLA blockchain education beginning in 2027. The partnership includes five sponsored fellowships for early-stage companies in the UCLA Accelerate program.

“Fluency in the application of technologies such as blockchain and AI to reshape products, markets and business models is something today’s students and founders simply must have,” Alex Nascimento of UCLA Anderson said.

Two applications developed with Petrobras track sustainable aviation fuel and renewable diesel using Cardano as a public verification layer. The projects add fuel certification to Cardano’s supply-chain and credentialing applications, while the next major infrastructure milestone is Fireblocks’ planned Native Token support in March 2027.
