Ripple Custody Adds Canton Network Support for Institutional Asset Management
Version 1.43 supports Canton Coin and eligible CIP-56 tokens through on-premises and hybrid SaaS deployments, with validators operated by customers or their node providers.

Ripple Custody has added Canton Network support to its institutional platform, allowing customers to manage Canton Coin and eligible CIP-56 tokens alongside other digital assets.
The functionality became available with version 1.43, released Oct. 5, 2026, as a long-term support update for on-premises and hybrid software-as-a-service deployments. Canton operations are managed through the Ripple Custody API and require ledger-accounting refactor phase 2.
The integration uses a bring-your-own-validator structure. An institution or its node provider operates the validator, while Ripple Custody manages the related Canton accounts as party manager. Signing keys remain in the customer’s vault and can be secured through a hardware security module or key-management service backend.
Canton accounts function as parties hosted on validators rather than as conventional blockchain addresses. Ripple Custody applies its existing policy controls and audit trail to Canton custody, balances, transaction history and transfers.
The platform supports pre-approval for incoming transfers, allowing accounts to receive assets without signing every inbound transaction. It also lets institutions accept, reject or withdraw two-step transfer offers.
The rollout has defined limits. Ripple Custody does not operate validators for customers and does not support arbitrary Canton-native Daml commands, contract deployment, CIP-56 allocation workflows or delivery-versus-payment transactions.
Canton is a public Layer 1 network used by regulated institutions for tokenization, settlement and repo activity. The addition gives institutions a way to manage Canton assets within an existing custody environment while retaining control over validator operations and signing-key storage.
