Anthropic unveiled Claude Haiku 5.5 on Wednesday for quick, repetitive and cost-sensitive workloads, lowering processing costs for tasks such as summaries, queries and classification requests.

Prompt processing is priced about 75% below Claude Haiku 4.5. Cache reads cost as little as $0.01 per 100,000 prompts, positioning the model for developers handling routine workloads where operating costs matter.

Claude Haiku 5.5 also demonstrates fewer misaligned behaviors than Haiku 4.5 and applies more restrictive cybersecurity safeguards. Those controls are less restrictive than safeguards in some newer models.

Anthropic had previously outlined plans for Claude Sonnet 5.5 and Haiku 5.5. The company launched Claude Sonnet 5.5 on Sept. 28 after introducing Claude Opus 5.5 on Sept. 22.
