Enjin Sets Nov. 9 and Nov. 16 for Relaychain, Matrixchain Upgrades
The upgrades require governance approval and would introduce OpenGov on Matrixchain, raise referendum deposits to 1,000 ENJ and expand NFT and marketplace functions.

Enjin has scheduled a Relaychain upgrade for Nov. 9 and a Matrixchain upgrade for Nov. 16, with both requiring governance approval before mainnet activation.
The Relaychain upgrade, Fort Canning, is planned for approximately 11 a.m. ET (16:00 UTC) on Nov. 9, 2026, at block 18,059,100. It would move the network from runtime 1.7.0 to 1.8.0.
Matrixchain’s upgrade is targeted for approximately 11 a.m. ET (16:00 UTC) on Nov. 16, 2026, at block 12,331,000. The change would move the network from runtime 1.3.1 to 1.4.1.
The plan would raise the minimum submission deposit for governance referenda from 0.025 ENJ to 1,000 ENJ per track. Deposits would be refunded when a referendum passes or is canceled.
Matrixchain would adopt OpenGov through 15 referendum tracks, replacing its Democracy, Council and Technical Committee systems. ENJ holders would vote directly, while longer token-lock periods would increase voting weight. Support would also be measured against total ENJ issuance.
Enjin Fellowship members would be able to whitelist time-sensitive proposals for expedited handling. Anyone would be able to propose changes through one of the tracks tailored to different decisions.
The Matrixchain upgrade would add fixed-term NFT lending with automatic returns at maturity, along with ephemeral NFTs that expire and are destroyed at a specified block. Marketplace users would also gain the ability to accept offers partially.
On the Relaychain, the GRANDPA authority limit would increase from 32 to 100. Validators that lose parachain disputes could face slashing penalties.
The upgrades were deployed on Enjin’s Canary networks on Sept. 28 and Sept. 29, respectively. Those deployments do not guarantee activation on mainnet, leaving governance approval as the next step for both upgrades.
